A plant that remembers for a month

Gagliano and colleagues found Mimosa learns to stop folding its leaves after repeated harmless disturbance, more strongly when grown in energetically costly conditions, and still showed this learned response after a month left undisturbed.

As reported in: Gagliano, Renton, Depczynski et al. (2014). Experience teaches plants to learn faster and forget slower in environments where it matters. Oecologia. doi:10.1007/s00442-013-2873-7
